At HEART of Afghanistan, every rug is a story—woven with tradition, strength, and the enduring spirit of Afghan women. Crafted entirely by hand, these rugs take up to four months to complete, a testament to the patience and dedication of the artisans who create them. Working in small groups, women from different provinces—Kabul, Herat, Mazar Sharif, Lugar Sharif, and beyond—come together, blending their unique regional styles into each piece.
More than just textiles, our rugs are windows into Afghanistan’s soul. The symbols, colors, and patterns are inspired by the country’s deep-rooted history, folklore, and traditions, carrying the essence of a land rich in culture. Made with natural vegetable dyes and the finest sheep wool, each rug is a piece of heritage, designed to last for generations.
Our founder, an immigrant who worked countless jobs before starting this journey, envisioned a business that would not only preserve Afghan craftsmanship but also empower the women who make it. For many of them, weaving is their only source of income—a way to support their families, gain independence, and keep their ancestral skills alive.
At HEART of Afghanistan, we believe in resilience, in tradition, and in the power of community.
Every rug is a symbol of perseverance, reminding us that if these women can overcome their challenges and create something extraordinary, so can we.
By bringing these rugs into your home, you are not just purchasing a piece of art—you are supporting a legacy, empowering artisans, and becoming part of a story that is still being woven.
